Heliodisplay Redux

Ah, again the Slashdot Principle (throw enough people at a website and it will go down; as a side-effect someone may eventually say something intelligent and useful) proves itself as Heliodisplay is Slashdotted.

The operating principle of the Heliodisplay is projecting laser images onto a vapor screen created by condensing ambient moisture from the air. I can see this having problems with low- and high-humidity conditions. In dry air, there’s not much to condense. Conversely, if the air is near saturation it’s quite possible that the droplets may not re-evaporate, instead coalescing into larger droplets and leaving a wet spot on your desk.

I’m still curious how they manage to implement dual-view, though.
