Inkscape On Tiger

Update: Inkscape 0.42.2 should now automatically run fc-cache for you, the first time it is run, prompting for the admin password.

Lots of folks have been having trouble running Inkscape 0.42 on Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger).

Basically, the deal is that X11 isn’t set up quite right on Tiger for some reason, and Inkscape quits on startup because it isn’t able to find any fonts.

To fix this situation, try running from a terminal:

sudo /usr/X11R6/bin/fc-cache

We’d like to have a workaround built into 0.42.1, but I’m not sure it’s possible yet.
