Implementors' Dilemma
Reflecting on Ted’s post, I think strict standards support involves a prisoners’ dilemma.
Inkscape, Adobe SVG, etc., have chosen to defect from a strict adherence to the XML standard, so now Firefox loses.
Remember, what’s being asked is that (http://www.w3.org/2000/svg, svg) and (, svg) be treated equivalently on a context-dependent basis—that’s an XML issue with implications for DOM, XSLT, etc… not just SVG.
