Surreal email

This has got to be one of the most surreal emails I’ve gotten in a long time:

Date: Fri, 21 Oct 2005 08:33:40 +0200
From: [recipient redacted]
To: mental@rydia.net
Subject: hi

your name is wrong

It turned out to be spam with a forged return address of someone I knew, but no advertisement, no payload, no exploit. Why? Validating deliverable addresses for later spamming, I guess…

At least my inner surrealist got a kick out of it.
