New Doctor Unveiled

Perfect. Brown pin-stripe suit and tie, tan overcoat. Looks a bit like a costume design I would have done, actually. Well… then there are the sneakers…
Now, every Doctor’s had his fashion issues. Some have grown on me, some have not.
- William Hartnell: That beaver hat! And lose the monocle…
- Patrick Troughton: Hobo pants with tailcoat. AND THAT HAIR.
- Jon Pertwee: All that lace. AND THAT HAIR.
- Tom Baker: Ginormus man-eating scarf. AND THAT HAIR.
- Peter Davidson: We’ll ignore the fact that he wore a Cricket uniform everywhere, as that would be lost on US viewers who hadn’t seen “Black Orchid”. Instead, we’ll pick on his habit of wearing a sprig of celery on his lapel.
- Colin Baker: That cat pin, and the… and the… OK NEVER MIND, JUST EVERYTHING. AND THAT HAIR.
- Sylvester McCoy: The umbrella was just over the top. And that sweater!
- Paul McGann: Actually, he pretty much nailed the Edwardian/Byronic thing.
- Christopher Eccleston: Vee-neck made him look like a merchant marine (props to writers for acknowledging this).
- David Tennant: Worn-out trainers with a pin-stripe suit. Mixed feelings about the hair so far.
However, I guess the sneakers and improperly-buttoned jacket do lend a certain air of “I am a deranged eccentric college professor”, which is not inappropriate to the Doctor.
So, we shall see.
