Inkscape is Growing Up

Visited with parents tonight. Dad needed to do some graphics for work; naturally, I suggested he use Inkscape. He didn’t have it installed, but sadly my parents are still stuck on dialup. Inkscape for Windows is currently a 12MB download.

Dad suggested we install SuSE on one of his spare machines and use that. It included Inkscape, didn’t it?

“Yeah,” I said, “but it’s probably some old version. 0.39 or 0.40 or something.”

“Uh, let me check.” He picks up the box and turns it over.

“Er, how can you tell?”

“It’s on the box.”

“It’s on the BOX?”

“Yes, ‘Inkscape .41’.”

“IT’S ON THE BOX?!?”

Wow. So our humble little project is now a bullet point on the feature list on the box of Novell’s flagship enterprise Linux distribution.
