John over at Coswell Productions has a tutorial up on producing minicomics using Free Software tools like the Gimp and Inkscape. Many people still do minicomics by hand, from pencils to paste-up to photocopying, but digital tools can make the job much faster (and cheaper!).

This tutorial focuses on digital paste-up and reproduction, but you can do the other parts digitally too. For example, his own all-ages minicomic, A Moment of Clarity, is inked entirely digitally.
